Students
opt for Suicide over Study Pressure
Three girl students
in Kota recently ended their lives in a shocking case of
joint suicide. The students, aged between 16 and 17, were
allegedly unable to sustain the pressure of exams, grades
and careers.
When we posted this news on
our Facebook Page, we got some strong reactions from our
student fans.
Now-a-days, suicide
is a common thing, but our parents still not understanding;
they only want more than 95%.

Indian
education system is terrible and the competition
makes it even worse.
- Pranjali Sachdeva
Seriously,
Indian education system needs some serious changes!!
These coaching classes make the condition worser!
How much pressure does a child deserve!
- Rashika
Professional
counselling is required for parents who push their
children into the Kota grind.
- Neeti Gupta Kanungo
So
sad it is! Is the talk of healthy competition just
gibberish? Whereas the reality lies somewhere else
– somewhere beneath the murky rotten system
ruled by selfish people! The fault lies within us
all – the whole society where compassion and
empathy for 'oh not so fit and perfect' is fast
receding. The whole education system and society
first of all need to build a great support system
where kids don't find themselves alienated.

We
need a revolution in our educational system to save
our future, because it’s not a student committing
suicide, it’s our future committing suicide.

At
Jiva Education, we have been working to bring happiness
and balance in the lives of students, by identifying their
personality traits, locating their strengths and matching
them to educational activities and careers that are based
on those qualities. We believe when a student follows his
nature, he derives a tremendous amount of happiness and
satisfaction from his life.
“It
is high time parents realized that there are tremendous
opportunities out there for all kinds of students. We just
need to spend time with our children to understand their
special abilities and guide them in the right career direction,”
says Mr. Rishi Pal Chauhan, President of Jiva Institute,
urging parents to encourage their children to pursue their
interests and not pressurize them for studies or grades.

Educative people should become Teachers: Steve
Jiva
Education Director, Steven Paul Rudolph was recently invited
to be the chief guest at the inauguration of the Multiple
Intelligences Festival in Amritsar. An initiative by Primary
Plus Newspaper, the event was held at the DAV International
School and attended by hundreds of educators, parents and
students. It served as a great platform for individuals to
understand the values and benefits of Multiple Intelligences
and Multiple Natures in education.
In
his message to the audience, Steven Paul talked about ‘the
qualities of an educator’ in detail. According to him,
even though you can teach somebody how to become a teacher,
the ‘educative’ tendency is inborn. He urged educational
managers to take in teachers who have a strong Educative Nature
(one of the nine Multiple Natures) in them.
Addressing
students, Steven Paul said kids who have Educative Nature
should not shy away from exploring the avenues available to
them. He said, many students today feel ‘teaching’
is the only option available for ‘educative individuals’
and they do not want to get into this field as it will greatly
limit their earning capacity. However, the reality is, there
are other choices such as Business Trainers, Counsellors,
Motivational Speakers, Journalists, etc. that could be viable
professions for such individuals. Not just that, Steven Paul
also cited the example of Shiv Khera, Robin Sharma, Deepak
Chopra and several successful tuition instructors who are
earning lakhs of rupees by making the most of their Educative
Nature.
During
his interaction with students, Steven Paul gave several anecdotes
about people who had left lucrative corporate positions in
order to take up jobs in education. His sentiments were echoed
by Mr. Pravin Mane, the Head of AniGuru (an animation company),
who was at the event as a speaker. Pravin had left his engineering
job to pursue his interest in instructional animation, thereby
reiterating the importance of following one’s nature.
Jiva
Sanskar Mela – An MI-MN Fair all the way
The Sanskar Mela organised
at Jiva Public School on the occasion of Children’s
Day was a big hit with students, parents, and visitors. More
than 2000 people flocked the Jiva premises for a day of fun
and frolic, played games, enjoyed cultural programmes and
savoured Indian and continental food.

Jivites
put up a cultural performance during the Jiva Sankar Mela,
held on the occasion of Children's Day
The best part about the fair was its connection to the concepts
of Multiple Natures and Multiple Intelligences. The students
and teachers of Jiva Public School were assigned duties based
on their MIs and MNs, which were mentioned on their badges.
For example, the students in the Customer Service Team were
the ones strong in Providing Nature; the Event Management
Team was made up of students with strong Administrative Natures;
and, the students at the ticket counter were Entrepreneurial
in nature.
All
in all, the event was an excellent way to demonstrate how
natures connect to work and to jobs. And the results were
clear: the entire show ran like clockwork. Everything was
well organized, there were no squabbles, and there was no
litter to be found anywhere.
When
people’s natures and energies are properly channelized,
you wind up with a winning atmosphere. We hope more schools
adopt the MN concept for organizing their events and see the
difference it can makes to people’s mindsets and working
styles.

Steven
Paul Rudolph launches his latest book,
Solving the Ice Cream Dilemma, at the Press Club
in Indore.
During the launch, Steven Paul highlighted the need for parents
and educators to identify children’s special abilities
and help them get an early start to success. “The most
successful people are the ones who discover their talent at
a young age and get an early start. Each student has certain
innate abilities that need to be identified and leveraged
by his parents and teachers. The Multiple Natures framework
is an extremely accurate and powerful tool for facilitating
this process,” he said.
