Leading Tigers into Temptation (Bundling)

Leading Tigers into Temptation (Bundling)

We all have those things we love to do, but sometimes struggle to make time for. Maybe it's watching your favorite show, or indulging in a guilty pleasure snack. At the same time, we all have those things we know we should be doing, but often put off. Maybe it's working out, or tackling that never-ending to-do list.

Enter Temptation Bundling, a concept popularized by James Clear, author of Atomic Habits. Temptation Bundling is all about linking an action you want to do with an action you need to do. This way, you're more likely to engage in that task you've been putting off, because you get to do something you enjoy at the same time.

For example, you could only read the tabloids and watch reality shows at the gym. Or, you could only listen to your favorite podcast while going for a run. The key is to find a pairing that works for you.

But what if we take this concept a step further and apply it to our natural abilities and talents, or as I like to call them, our "tigers". By identifying our Multiple Intelligences (MIs) and Multiple Natures (MNs) we can create a turbo-boosted temptation bundling strategy that not only helps us engage in tasks we've been putting off, but also helps us feed our tigers in the process.

For example, let's say you are high in Naturalistic Intelligence and in Adventurous Nature. You could pair going on a nature hike with reading an adventure novel. Or, if you have a big Musical Tiger and a big Healing Tiger, you could pair writing your own music with journaling about your feelings and emotions.

Another example, if you have a big Linguistic and Entrepreneurial Tigers, you could pair reading a business book with writing a business plan. Or, if you have strong Gross Bodily Intelligence and a dominant Educative Nature, you could pair practicing a new dance routine with creating lesson plans or teaching someone else your moves.

The possibilities are endless and unique to each individual. By taking the time to identify your MIs and MNs and creating a temptation bundling strategy that aligns with them, you'll not only be more likely to engage in the tasks you've been putting off, but also be feeding your tigers in the process. A win-win for both you and your natural abilities.

So, take some time to reflect on your MIs and MNs and start experimenting with different temptation bundling pairings. And if you come up with a good one, let me know so I can share it with others!
